These discoveries have been developed into use for modern purposes on Earth. So basically, this can be anything, no matter what its purpose. Joystick were invented by scientists at NASA in the 1950s. The astronauts were complaining that there were way too many controls on their space buggies. So what did the scientists do? They invented the joystick. The joystick allowed the astronauts to move it in any direction and the space buggy would go in that direction. The scientists at NASA never thought that the joystick would eventually be used for video games.
